All About The Options
What Makes JoShoes different? Our double-layer sole! With the exception of the size 0-3mo, every shoe sole has a standard double-layer, beefy leather sole. This provides extra protection against the elements. The sole of a JoShoe is approximately 2mm thick, or .078": compare to other soft shoe brands which are normally around .80mm thick, or .031". For comparison, one U.S. quarter is 1.75mm thick, so a standard JoShoe sole is .25mm thicker than a quarter! With the option to add foam, you can add another 2mm of thickness and padding to the sole, for a whopping 4mm, or .156"!! The sole is constructed in a way that no extra bulk or stress is added to outside seams to ensure comfort and durability. JoShoes are sewn together, by hand, on an industrial grade machine, with industrial grade, rot resistant thread. So wash after wash, and wear after wear, the seams on JoShoes stand strong.
Measuring For Size:
Stand your child up on a flat, solid surface (not carpeting) on a piece of paper. Holding a pencil or pen straight up and down, mark the paper where the back of the heel, and the tip of the big toe rest. Measure between these two points, and refer to the JoShoes size chart below. You should choose a size that is between 3/8" and 5/8" larger than your measurement.

| What is PUL?
Your JoShoes can have a layer of water resistant PUL material sandwiched between the two suede layers on the sole for added comfort. What is PUL? Polyurethane laminate, or PUL, has gained great popularity as a fabric treatment. It is applied to the surface of a porous fabric (usually polyester, but also cotton) to provide a flexible, water resistant layer. Ultrex and Extreme, two woven fabrics commonly used in outdoor clothing, are also polyurethane laminates. PUL is a very effective barrier to liquids.
What is 2mm Foam?
A layer of foam can be added for extra cushioning in the shoes. The foam is sandwiched between the two layers of suede(not available for the 0-3mo size). This is craft foam, so no bunching will occur after washing your JoShoes.
What Are Tiptoes and ToughToes?
Tiptoes are an option you may have added to that will greatly reduce the chances of a hole forming where the big toe hits the shoe. This is an especially excellent option for pre-walkers, as holes in the toes of soft shoes is often an issue at this stage. Having tiptoes does give the shoes an assigned left and right foot. Tough Toes are much like Tiptoes and serve the same purpose, only it is on the entire front tip of the shoe.

Another option you may choose is having your JoShoes completely lined in fleece. There are several fleece colors to choose from. Only top quality microfleece and polar fleece is used for both lining the shoes, and for the cuffs on the boots. Here is an example of a fleece lined shoe:
